Sitting amongst tall thin spotted gums high above a private south coast beach is this tent like lightweight framed family weekend getaway house. The need to accommodate more than one family or host a weekend conference was the inspiration for this split-level house in the trees.
This timber framed multi functional weekender with infill glass aperture highlight windows and distinctive butterfly roof seeks to incorporate the connection to the Australian bush and maintain the feel of a relaxed retreat house. The series of glass small aperture highlight windows allows the occupant to watch the thin trunks of the spotted gums as they sway in and out of view of each aperture window on a windy day.
This house design demonstrates the opportunities available on a wind swept cliff edge whilst responding to the sites wonderful natural elements.
